Psychotherapy
After qualifying as a person-centred counsellor in 1996, I spent twelve years as a specialist eating disorders counsellor in eating disorders services and in the NHS, and several years as an in-house counsellor in GP surgeries. In more recent years, I trained as an emotional and binge eating coach and completed a BSc in Human Integrative Psychotherapy.
For the past ten years I have been running my own private practice in Cork. Because I know how it feels to struggle, my aim is to offer others a safe space where they feel seen, heard and supported as they navigate life's difficulties and discover new possibilities for growth and change.
I see clients for one-to-one sessions, in person and online. Much of my current work is with anxiety and overwhelm, emotional and binge eating, relationships, and navigating the changes that come in midlife. I also support teenagers in recovery from anorexia nervosa, and their parents.

What I work with
- Stress, anxiety and depression
- Emotional eating and binge eating
- Relationship issues
- Women and men navigating midlife changes.
- Teenagers in recovery from anorexia, and their parents
How it works
Many people come to me through word of mouth. Some are referred by their doctor. You're welcome to get in touch yourself.
We start with a first session to talk about what's bringing you, and whether we're a good fit. Where it helps, I might bring in breath or movement alongside the talking.
The easiest way to ask about a session is to send me a WhatsApp message.
What clients say
“Louise facilitated sessions where myself and my daughter learned a deeper understanding of each other. My daughter felt safe enough to express her own needs and the stresses within our family setting, and she felt seen, heard and understood. My daughter now knows that she can express her own needs, take care of her nervous system and manage her own overwhelm. I also have a greater knowledge of practical ways I can support her. We have learned so much from Louise and are so grateful.”
